My Kids' Cell Phone Rules at Home

When I was a teenager, there were two big phone rules that I remember today. My parents told me that I could not be on the phone past 9:00. And if the phone rang after 9, you would definitely hear a Tsk! and Now I wonder who would be calling past 9:00?

And if the phone rang during dinner, no one was to answer it.

Hubs had the same rules at his house when he was growing up. How about you? Rules like that?

hello?

I think those rules helped to shape our house rules about our kids cell phones.

Balancing technology for kids these days is tough. Both of my girls have cell phones, and they are plugged in to social media like Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram.

If left to their own choice, they would be on their phones non-stop and at all hours of the night. I want them to learn phone etiquette and manners and restraint and.... oh my.

Here are our 5 "big" house rules about cell phone use:
1 - No cell phones during dinner.
2 - Turn in phones at night to be charged in Mom & Dad's room.
3 - No phone in the morning until everything is done and you are ready to go to school.
4 - Turn in phone while doing homework or chores.
5 - The person you are with is always more important than the person on the phone.

What are some of your house rules?

Great rules. Love the picture of the turquoise telephone. I remember the weight of the receiver so well.
