Chalkboard Mirror Quotes

I am still in love with my DIY chalkboard mirror I made a couple of summers ago. I thought I would change out my quotes more often, but I've only had a few different ones. The first quote was this one...

The most recent quote is below...

I'm ready to change the quote...this one has been on Instagram since March!

I need some inspiration, so I went to my favorite place for it... Pinterest! Here are some I found that may find their way onto my chalkboard.

We are what we repeatedly do!

He has plans for me!

Love this quote!

I'll update you on the next quotes I use. What are your favorite quotes to display on chalkboards?

Halloween Mantel 2013

We have a new neighbor down the street who has decorated their yard and house for Halloween. They have a graveyard in their front yard, compete with cobwebs, and they have creep creatures in their windows and hanging from their gables. My girls, ages 14 and 16, love it and have been bugging me to decorate for Halloween. SO today was the day!

You all know that I'm on a decorating budget, so I pulled out the decorations from last year and tried to do something a little different. I definitely put my garage sale "B-O-O" pumpkins out, but I still need to create a wreath for the front door. I don't have last year's wreath, and I think I'd like a little more color this year, too.

I DID wait until after Homecoming this year to decorate the mantel. I don't love having a background of Halloween decor in those pictures. :-)

I like the way the mantel turned out, but you'll have to forgive the iPhone pictures!

It doesn't look like this in person. I was playing with the effects in PicMonkey. Do you use PicMonkey to edit your pictures?

Here's my Halloween "masterpiece" (I'm using that term loosely!) I re-used my Dollar Tree chandeliers, skeleton garland, tombstone, pumpkins, and skull. The netting draped across the mirror is from the Dollar Tree, too. I'm not sure what to call the orange-y wired berries on the vine. I love the colors and use it every fall. The black pumpkin I got from my mom, I think, who probably picked it up from a garage sale.

Down below, I simple added squashes from the grocery store. The H is there for now, but I'll find it a new home soon. The horseshoe stays there all the time. It was Hubs when he was in high school, and it reminds me of The Pioneer Woman

So here it is full-size. I think my dog, Chase, was trying to pretend he wasn't in the picture. It seems kind of fitting that I decorated the mantel on the 13th of October. And I didn't even get a comment from the girls!

How's your fall decorating going?

Halloween Treats in a Jar

I'm a huge fan of Mason Jars, so I've rounded up these Halloween treats - all served in jars. When I was younger, my mom would give my younger sister and I treats that she would call "Happies" - just things for us that would make us happy.

Enjoy these Halloween Happies!

1 - Free tags and cupcake toppers from Amanda's Parties to Go

2 - Apples and caramel dip are perfect in mini mason jars. Free printable from Making Life Whimsical.

3 - Cute party favors from HGTV.

4 - Fall Cookies in a Jar from Lil' Luna.

5 - Another treat from Kristyn over at Lil' Luna - No Tricks Just Treats.

6 - Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins in a Jar from Nest of Posies.

Crockpot Chicken and Tomato Soup

First, I have to make a public apology. To myself.

You see, I recently took The Passion Test. One of my passions is creating. Whether it's cooking, drawing, building, making...

And I've been neglecting that part of me. So, I'm making it a priority to get back to blogging. This blog keeps me accountable to myself. To create and share. To connect with others with the same passion of creating. To learn.

So, as I return to my personal blog, what better to share than an easy crockpot recipe as the fall season is beginning.

The recipe is adopted from one by River North Paleo Girl.  Now I have another easy soup that I can make on a morning of a busy weeknight or on a Sunday and have soup for lunch during the week.

Here's my adapted recipe:

1 bag frozen skinless, boneless chicken breast (usually about 6 breasts)
1/4 C frozen, chopped onion
2 tablespoons Italian dressing
2 14 oz. cans diced tomatoes
1 14 oz. can tomato sauce
1 pint half & half
2 cups chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in the crockpot and cook 9 hours on low. After 9 hours, use 2 forks to shred chicken. Serve immediately or keep crockpot on warm until ready to serve.
