All of you ladies (and I guess gentlemen, too) who have made one of these wreaths, I hope you'll tell me the secret to the styrofoam because at this rate I don't think I'll ever tackle one again! I burned my fingers twice and have two huge blisters to boot.
Anywho... enough of my moanin' and groanin'.... let me show you my inspiration first!
This is why I love Pinterest. When I got brave enough to tackle this project, all I had to do was go to my Pinterest board and click on the link to Little Miss Momma's blog for the tutorial.
I won't bore you with any details about how I did it... there are about 64 thousand tutorials in blogland.
I first posted about my Rustic Christmas Mantel here. I love the rustic, cabiny, ranchy look. It's always seems so warm and cozy. Today I caught The Pioneer Woman's cooking show on the Food Network channel. Her kitchen is to.die.for. And in the background was a beautiful rustic fireplace. {I had to show it to Hubs, who being from Wyoming I thought he'd love the lanscape there. He said, "Wouldn't it be great to have land and a house like that at the lake?" Booyah! That's my boy!}
My mantel is nowhere near the size of The Pioneer Woman's, but I still love my little rustic corner in my home. When I did the first reveal, I mentioned that I thought I needed a little somethin' somethin' on my "gift" on the mantel.
Enter, my coffee filter wreath.
I wanted to take the burlap off of the "gift," but I had hot-glued it to the paper! I think it looks okay with the burlap, though. What do you think?
So... here's my mantel BEFORE:
Here's the AFTER:
I think my burned fingers may have been worth it!
P.S. If you have tips on the styrofoam, let me know! :)

I made a coffee filter wreath a few weeks ago (http://thisdiylife.wordpress.com/2011/12/03/cold-fluffy-and-white/) and every time I look at it, I just smile. Do you love yours as much as I love mine? As for the styrofoam wreath, sorry I don't have any suggestions. I went to buy one and couldn't bring myself to spend that much (I'm a total cheapskate). I used a wooden wreath form for my coffee filter wreath. I made an argyle wreath too (http://thisdiylife.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/challenge-completed-argyle-style/) but used the pipe insulation like you may have seen on Pinterest too.
Amy, I love your wreath, too! I think I may not have suffered as many burns if I'd had your tutorial. Thanks for the comments - love your ideas on your blog!
I like the burlap behind your wreath. Those hot glue gun burns can be dangerous can't they. Sometime I think my fingerprints are so gone that I could commit a crime and no one could prove it, ha ha. Your coffee filter wreath is lovely, and your mantel is pretty. Thanks for sharing at Sunday's Best and wishing you Happy Holiday's.
Yes, Cathy!! My finger is STILL looking bad from the burn. Now that Christmas is over.... I'm trying to decide where to hang my wreath! :) Thanks for visiting!
